I run 25-9 and love it. My friend runs 25-10 because he's a bigger guy, he says it gives him more control... another friend runs 28-9 because he's light and likes the way it works... however, I am sticking with 25-9.

Well, the thing is, all of our spots are pretty small, there's no real reason to bust your balls pedaling into it, it's not like you're doing a feeble to Smith on an unwaxed ledge and then trying to 360 a gap coming off it or something... we have crappy riding here

Most people like to stay around 2.5:1 I am always between 2:1 and 2.5:1. Never go below 2:1 on a standard single speed bike it is just to much work. Trials bikes are the only time you should consider going lower.
@TwentyCent, ratio really has nothing to do with it. You can run gears directly together but to answer what I think your asking is around 13-13.5 inches. Many companies consider 13.75 slammed.
