I had the 888R 04 model and then I changed to 40RC2 06 model...I think both of them are great forks. I was using the 888 b4 I started racing, the performance was waaay..over the junior T. I had it too b4 the 888, it came with the bighit as a full bike set up. for a while it was okay. When you start doing bigger stuff 888 is the way to go, it's tough and really durable. The down side is it's a lot heavier than the 40. if people are saying that 40 is for racing only it's not 100% correct. Kyle Strait was using it at the redbull rampage....can't remember if he won or not though. I feel that the 40 is a lot stiffer and got better cornering ability bacause of the legs are spread wider than the boxxer and 888, so it's more stable. Money wise boxxer wc, 40rc2 and 888rc2x wc are not far away from each other when brand new. I'm very happy with the 40 performance....
40s are really expensive but really nice. but 888s are way too expensive for what you get. 888s are pretty much exactly the same forks as boxxers. only difference is i can get a boxxer race for $500, and 888, which is the same if not worse quality, would cost me around $1000.

Boxxer > 888 anyday. If you think that a 888 can compare to a boxxer you havent ridden either of them
