i think it would be incredibly difficult, i think sram uses some sort of press to press the steerer into the crown.
and im not sure if you can buy steerers by themselves.

most companies should let you buy a sanction/crown/steerer assembly, which is the only safe way to do it yourself because the steerers are press fit to the crown at the factory.

ahh i wouldnt even bother trying to replace it until it bends. where can i find a brand new 07?

Some of the 07 argyles come with a steel steerer. If thats any help, it won't bend for sure

dont buy the 07 i hade some and i stapped the steere riding of a curb at speed and rock shox will not give me another pair they said its your fault and now i havt to pay £170 for a new steere and uppers they are f*ckers

first the 07s are not that great built and the 08s are better made
wait until the 09s como out its dual air and they rock the colour is sick purple

buddy their not gonna bend after a couple of rides and if ur steertube is grey than its the steel one that bent easy and suked and if its black than its the alloy one which are much stronger and lighter
