yes, i would go with the haro. ive ridden one before and theyd be perfect for a first time bike.

Check out Black Market frames. The riot, Mob and .357 are all wicked frames. Can't miss with a Cowan or Shred from the Kona boys.

get a stp 2. there really good for beginners that are going into dj. plus they have geometry for beginner mauling.
