i work at a specialized dealer and the test bikes are just so customers can take the bikes out on the trail(as said before)

I just see the specialized testbike as a limited edition colours. If you can get hold of one thats had little or no test rides (usually for less £££ too) its just like getting hold of a bike in a rare colour.
I bought a testbike that had spent 9 months in a shop window and was never ridden, I just peeled the testbike sticker off once I got mine.

Most of the time the LE paint jobs are either limited paint supply of that color. Or they cost more to produce that color. So, the final sale bikes are always different and at times plainer in colors.
