There is only one choice here the SANTA CRUZ VP FREE, YA BOYZ! My Free weights 38 lbs with a DHX 5 w/ ti spring, fox 40's, 729's, stans, tubless 2.5" high rollers, and 8" front and back. It's all in the name 'Free', as in Freeride.
You can pedal it up and you can bomb it on the way down. There isn't anything I haven't tried to pedal up or drop off that my Free can't handle. I use my VP free on the XC rides in Fernie so if there's will, there's a way to pedal it up. Bottle rockets are great but are more of a bike park bike. Any bike with an interrupted layed back seat tube is pretty much out of the question as a free ride bike. Demos are DH bikes, not Freeride bikes. In my opinion True freeride bikes are very limited in availability. Intense and Kona are the only to other OEM's that come to mind that offer true freeride bikes on my opinion.
i dont get it why everyone is drouling over the bottle rocket, its not that nice. the rear suspension on it is the worst thing ever and it looks like it should be a ht
