Schrader valves have a internal spring that requires 35+ psi to overcome. The spring in the presta valve only require a few psi to get the air into the tube. This makes inflating a tire with a frame pump much less effort. This is the reason and no other.
So that should mean they are also superior for seating tubeless if you leave the core in. I prefer presta asthetically as they are more in keeping with the scale of the application, schrader looks too big on a push bike rim, on narrower rims got to be a point of weakness the larger drilling required.
The only real advantage I can see for presta valves is that it’s awfully easy to remove air if I get a few too many psi in there. I guess I never gave it much thought. Meh.
