im currently on 25-9 and quite like it, it's decent for getting super fast, but isn't too hard to get around on (i have to ride between spots normally)

Finding 25/9 to be too easy myself, topping out all the time. Like to try a 27/9 or 28/9 setup.

I run 28-9 gearing, you will love it if you find 25-9 too easy. It's more effort to get going though.

anything to 8 is retarded. unless you're rich and can afford to replace your driver every month, and you're all a bunch of little kids and I really doubt that is the case.

28-9 IMO.

i have a proper magnalite cassette hub that is 8 tooth and it is still perfect, and ive ran it for months and months. Dont bag on something you dont know anything about.

@TwentyCent, ratio really has nothing to do with it. You can run gears directly together but to answer what I think your asking is around 13-13.5 inches. Many companies consider 13.75 slammed.

Well not the ration itself, but the combination of different sprocket sizes and CS length will determine if you can slam your rear wheel or not...I personally run 28-10 on a 13.75" CS (I think) and when (try to)slam my rear wheel, the chain has a bit too much slack, but not enough to remove a link in the chain.

try a half-link.

That's what I have. I just wondered if anybody had a "guide" with CS length and gears that are slammable. I know that 25-9 works well with something like 13.25 for example

divde the larger number by the smaller one then multiply by 20...55 gi is standard bmx gearing so:
44/16x20=55 44/16 was the original bmx gearing...55 is standard

25/9x20=55.55 so its essentially the same as standard just more clearance and is lighter

if you notice alot of people are arguing over the same (roughly) gear ratios just using larger or smaller amounts of teeth

i would go 28/9

28/8 thats the way to go.
