This is my solution to a similar desire for a flexible hardtail running hammerschmidt - have toyed with going ss but have kept gears for the moment.

MacMahone Reaper - do it all hardtail.

I am also doing something very simular. My Jamis XC 2.0 is the 14" frame version being the smallest option which gives it a very simular looking geometry as some aluminum DJ bikes with maybe a little more strake/high speed stability which may be better for me since I ride around town n trails for fun these days instead hang out at jump park and bmx track etc.

I am still in process of upgrading it now and many parts are still in the mail on irder from amazon like my chromag venture seat, hussefelt seatpost, MRP mini 3 chain guide bash guard kit with gscg05 adapter plate,, shimano SLX rear hydraulic brake kit with ice XTR 180mm rotor (cuz i assume frame wont clear 203 unfortunately), and some other parts like raceface atlas cranks i scored brand new on amazon for 108$ shipped with BB cuz its stealth color which is listed 1/3 retail price woohoo. Also ordered maxxis dth tires in 26x2.3 as well as a matching rear rim with centerlock rotor hub .

Next I am upgrading drivetrain to 11 or 10 speed cog 11-28, short cage deraileur like saint or zee and matching shifter. I am undecided on future front brake... probably will do a slx with 203 rotor on the fork last.

Most importantly I am having the frame powdercoated by prismatic powders here in Oregon. Super Chrome base, shocker yellow mid,& casper clear top coat. Custom Font and logos in high gloss black... rims to be pc'd gloss black and hubs/spoke nipples to match frame... on black spokes... may sub shocker yellow for jamacain teal im undecided.

This is a picture i took before the new front end was done

It is soooo much better balanced and lighter weight now. The forks must weigh under 1 pound where stock shock fork was like 5lbs or more. Its a whole new bike and After a good 2 hrs at the bmx track I can proudly say that it feels close enough to previous dj bikes Ive owned like kona shred, kona stuff, P1&p2's to make it all worth it. I get the same mad air as before but it seem more lightweight like a big bmx bike ...an aliminum one too

This jamis has beefcake welds for an xc frame imo. No gessets but does have nice weld setup on the headtube area and bb areas which are key. I break frames in those spots... even tho this thing is over 10yrs old it shoukd look cool when im done. Then maybe find better frame to convert over too down the road and make this a fixie dj

Heres how it came out... i did 10spd zee conversion, zee cranks, zee deraileur, zee shifter, g3 mini, 32t narrow wide raceface front/ultegra 11-28 cassette, xtr 180 c-lock rotor on new back wheel zac19 36h shimano cLock hub,m8000 xt brake, sram chain, overture seat, Forte big platform pedals, husefelt stem, RF respond bars, origin8 dual lock Grips, and kenda k-rads that im going swap out for dmr supermoto or maxxis dth ...& i want sum spank tweet rims or sumn.

Since every part but the frame is brand new I really need powder coat frame to set the build off

Next i want to buy a ns majesty frame to start true ss dj build if not just buy an ns soda or specialized p-slope...dreamn bout it
