A fixed/free hub, all you have to do is turn the odd flowery thing and it changes it over. A nice idea I think. But it's pretty steep, £170 quid Eek

Woah i smell Commuter/polo/fixed rippa project! that's a cool idea.

Apparently you can't skid that Sturmey Archer hub without breaking it and same probably goes with the Hammerschmidt.

O+

The Hammerschmidt has a freewheel mechanism in it, can't be used fixed gear

rly? i don't know much bout the intenals of the hammerschmidt but if it has a freewheel mech then you have you run a fixed rear for it to work. because a double freewheeling system on a AM bike would kinda F things up.

i have this system it's called Shimano FF on a Schwinn Suburban it's from the early 80's that works on the principle of the crank freewheeling and the rear cassette is fixed. it means i can shift without pedaling since the chain is always moving with the fixed rear cogs.
here is a vid of the crank 'freewheeling' (kinda)

Few updates on the mash. Chub hub, Gold H+son thompson stem, oval TT bars, and a wound up fork (the stock one had the flexiest steer to EVER and the wound up is baller as hell)

Need to get some money first. I think I might got with the 30MM hplus rim instead of the 42 for the front. They both come in gold

44-16. Soon as I get my new cranks i'm going to be running a 47 17

Very cool, it will be incredible with the matching front wheel! What cranks are you getting?
