Funny enough I was looking for a Fathom around that time and struggled to find one, but my local shop had a Merida Big Trail 500 in stock which I bought instead and love it. A few changes like upgrading the fork from a Recon to a Z2 (like the 600 version) changed it from a good bike to a great one.

I got the last Fathom at T7 Mt Wellington and nobody else in the north island had any apparently.

I'll add that BOTH Maxxis tyres have failed by developing bubbles somehow between the layers of rubber [?!] They only had a 1 year warranty I found out.
Aggressor on the back and a DHF up front.
Quite gutted about that in fact!


Have had it happen with a maxxis tire before, but I cannot imagine getting more than 4+5 months out of a tire.
