I take it it's the smaller companies that make the 24" bikes. I could not find a 24" sold locally so I just bought a 26". I kind of regret it now! But then again these small companies are super expensive but worth it.

thanks for all the imput guys - do you reckon the max travel those frames can take is 100mm or could they take about 140mm ? thanks
most will be around 100 or less.

Yeah. more ruins the geo.

would it actually damage the frame or just slacken the head angle and make the BB higher - if i got an adjustable travel fork then i could lower it for DJ's then higher it for FR - slackening the angles. Would that work?

yeah there is no reason why that wouldnt work.
sounds like a great idea.

i would personally get a identiti krisis or 666 and put some pikes on it
but seeming though you want a small brand frame get a last

24 bicycles. Check out the 101. how sexy are the drop outs!

noooooooooo 24bicycles sucks ass

Why? they are good.

no they aren't. there were a lot of 24s here in Holland. The old 24 stuff was strong (pornking, toy3). but the new parts/frame all failed, everybody who had a le toy 4 frame broke it, most of them in less than a year. i broke the sankukai fork in less than 2 months.
All the 24bicycles dealers in Holland stopped selling them because they had too many work/problems with getting warrenty on all those frames.
and don't forget, it doesn't matter how light your bike is, the frame has a shit geometrie why your bike feels damn heavy, even if it's not
