I'm on a limited budget for a full suspension MTB. Just trying to stretch my dollar on something used. But seeing all these scammers is making it increasingly difficult to send someone a couple grand. Even with PayPal protection, who knows how long it will be before getting your money back, assuming they rule in your favor. Super sad really.
I'm starting to lean toward the Stumpjumper Alloy sale from a local shop.
What is the PayPal claim process like? Do buyers generally have good luck getting their money back?
It can be lengthy and there is no guarantee PayPal will side with buyer. My suspicion is that PayPal is getting very tired of losing money to these scams. If paid through a Credit Card you can also alternately file a fraud case with the CC. i have heard PayPal really doesn't like when you do this but I got tired of waiting on PayPal to refund my $$$ and Chase took very good care of me, refunded the charge very quickly. CC companies have dedicated fraud teams that will go hunt down their lost $$
Taking down my post. I should have investigated further before insinuating that https://www.pinkbike.com/u/kelleradams/ might be a scammer. I was wrong. My sincere apologies to the seller.

My initial position was that I suspected the seller did not have possession of the items. I asked for specific additional information and photos of the fork and the info was provided and photos were promptly uploaded after asking.

be careful with that. I was in contact with a guy that had possession and was able to take pictures and seemed legit but wouldn't do a FaceTime call or give their phone number. These guys are getting smarter. Then he listed again with another account. Only reason why i knew it was the guy is because the serial number on the item matched. First listing was in sault ste marie and then he listed again with his location in Toronto

Thanks for your post. I don't know what to make of it man. I've had a good number of positive transactions on PB so far with zero hassle. Now all of a sudden I'm noticing red flags and came close to being scammed. I just don't know what to make of it... honestly.

Shit is off the rails right now, I have bought and sold on pink bike and other forms for over a decade without any issues. Got scammed doing all the right things on a bike purchase. This is organized crime and sophisticated.
