you need 30mm of spacers. just go to a local hardware store and get 30mm of nylon (or plain plastic) spacers that are size evivulent(sp?-early lol) to the end of your bar

how important is it to have a nylon washer at the top and if so what diameter should it be?

Also could you just use the spacer that mates with the spring at the top as your 30mm of spacers that goes between the negative spring and shaft hat?

i'm going to lower my argyle 318 to 80mm, so i will use only 2 10mm spacers

but you saved me 80 euros (almost 100 dollars) by posting this Big Grin thank you very much tup

You can lower the fork to 80mm. However you will have to put 10mm of spacers on top of the spring assembly along with 20mm on the bottom. If you don't there will be 10mm of play in the fork.

The easiest way to lower your fork to 80mm is to cut 20mm off of the spacer that comes with your fork and put it on the bottom side. Make sure you cut the side of the spacer that goes into the topcap and not the side that mates with the spring. If you do this you will not be able to change it back to 100mm.

when i lowered my fork I cut the spacer already inside to 20mm. I then put it in the proper spot like u said. But when i measure my travel its 90mm? What did I do wrong?

you say measure your travel ? the stancions ? if so they do not tell you have much travel you have. if you put a 20mm spacer in you will have 80mm travel.
stancions are always longer that the travel as if they werent at them end of the travel the crown would hit the seals.!
use your head!

O+
