Does anyone know if the STP SS frame, 2009 model, can be set up with gears? Is it as simple as swaping out the derailer hanger?

the STP frame is identical across the whole series... you are correct to assume you would need a derailler hanger as the tensioner takes place of the hanger...

I don't think they are identical as the SS frame doesn't have a bolt on chain guide mount on the BB... However, I have only seen pictures online and it's possible that the 2009 frames ARE all identical.
