a guy on here has a hongfu 29er that looks really good. it's cheaper and lighter than the niner one 9, and 1200 g is pretty damned light anyhow for the hardtail. I'm definitely interested...
I have heard of people on other forums buy those frames (or simular) and they are actually happy with them for the price.
I purchased one last year for racing solo 24 hr Xcode and found it fantastic, I have just bust the rear drop out chain stay but that could have happened to any bike as it did to another carbon framed racer on the same weekend, with a branded frame. Recommended in my opinion and will be fixing mine if possible or buying a new one .
I'd be carefull with a frame like that, there's a reason that most carbon frames are over 1000 pounds, and it isn't just paying for a brand. Have a look at the On One 456 Carbon or On One Carbon XC Whippet. The 456 is an All Mountain frame designed to take 100-160mm forks and the XC Whippet is a pure-bred race frame designed to take 100mm forks. They always get glowing reviews and are still very well priced at 399 pounds. Take a look at: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOCWH/on-one-carbon-xc-whippet-frame (On One Carbon XC Whippet) http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOC456P/on-one-carbon-456-frame (On One 456 Carbon) http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/carbon-456-xt-pro-42704 (On One 456 Carbon Review) http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/whippet-custom-build-39914 (On One Carbon XC Whippet Review) I've just got alu version of the xc whippet and am chuffed to bits with it. Hope this helps
I just got my On-One Lurcher carbon fiber frame. I love it! It seems very well built, even though when I look inside of the headtube I can see a little chinese label of some sort.
I'm tempted by a playful 29er, only just built my first F/S a carbon Commencal Meta 5.5 (2011 frame) so not looking for a main bike but for this price it would be a nice little build and a chance to see what the 29er fuss is all about.
