I happen to drive a cobalt ss, and I can honestly say that sometimes I shake when I floor it. Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2005/2005-Chevrolet-Cobalt-SS-Coupe-Wide-Body-SEMA-SA-1920x1440.jpg

sorry but for me that would be WAY too slow (yeah, i'm crazy) and it can't turn hard enough. also, i'm not a fan of front wheel drive because the front tires already have to deal with turning and most of the brakeing, they shouldn't have to deal with the power too.

What do you drive? I donno one time I was going down the express way and I got up to 170 within like 7 seconds and I hit the brakes and the car slid sideways, I didnt go all out but that was still scary sliding sideways at 170 and with an SUV about 5 feet beside you in the other lane.

right now i'm driving an 06 Subaru Impreza 2.5i and it is way slower than your car. the only reason it is stock is it's really my dads car but i'm the only one who drives it and he won't let me make it faster. (well, less slow) one car i have driven though that made me smile a bit was my uncles 1994 Dodge Viper. it's a Hennessey Venom 550 but it's got a rowe exaust so it's close to 600HP. he's a bit of a chicken because he took it to Pocono Raceway and let off at 155 MPH (i'm assuming you were at 170 KPH?) he was with me in the passenger seat so i couldn't really gun it but i still hit about 80MPH....in 3rd. it can be sketchy driveing a 600HP beast with no traction control on 40 degree farenheght roads, there's not much grip.
Well I cant afford a dodge viper ok! hahaha But yeh I was just going 170km, but the scary thing was was that it didnt take long at all to get up to that speed.

yeah, i can't afford a viper either, i'm just happy my uncle can! also, when you are in that 600HP viper, it didn't take long at all to get to 80 MPH. i pulled out of the side road, and boom, i was at 80. that's when the radar detector went off, i went "oh shit" and hit the brakes...hard. i love corners that the cops can't see around but radar detectors can. i had fun and didn't get a ticket.
it would be a nice car if it wasnt front wheel drive and american
Im not really into anything besides german or japanese. But you gotta remember that not everyones a millionaire, the cobalt is fairly affordable, and with the power is puts out you cant go wrong.

Subaru Imprezzas are super affordable cars these days. My family bought an 08 Imprezza Sport and I think we payed like twenty six for it. Super reasonable. You can get a base sedan for like twenty three. I think they're getting cheaper in Canada even.

1. I'm 99.9% sure it's spelled Impreza with one Z 2. Here in the US, you can get a brand new base model Impreza (the one with no turbo ) for about 17.
Impreza's are not cheap and neither are Subaru's in general. As a recent grad interested in purchasing a car I've looked at every car from $15-25,000. Cars from re-badged Daewoos (Chevrolets) to the Honda Civic which was at the upper end. Out of a dozen new cars it came down to the Subaru Impreza 5-door Sport and the Mazda 3 Sport. Right off the bat I'd get more for my money in the Mazda, the Subaru is AWD compared to front and has an extra 20 hp. But, gas milage is way worse. Then the cost, the Subaru starts at $25,000 while the Mazda is $23,000, 2 grand I knowbig deal, but Subaru interest is up to 4% more per year. So on the long haul I would have spent thousands more on the Subaru. Just ended up buying a used 2003 Protege 5 with 56,000 clicks on it, and it's been trouble free.
Cars are lame, trucks are where its at, my personal prefference, the ford 3/4 and 1 tons with the powerstroke turbo diesel. I really like the OBS trucks of the 90s, but the new superdutys are bitchin' as well. A mild 4" lift and 35" tires is great, still drivable for everyday use, though I don't mind seeing them higher with 37" tires or more.
and my most favorite reason for loving diesels is best illustrated in this video:
