hi, just a quick question. my mates just got a Iron Horse Yakuza Aniki frame and building it up last night we found his halo spin doctor rear hub standard 135mm spacing was too small for the rear dropouts. i measured the dropouts at 140mm. can i get an adaptor kit or spacers for the hub. any idea guys?

Also it has a 1.5" headtube. can anyone recommend a good reducer 1 1/8" headset?

cheers in advace

I'm assuming you took that measurement with no rear wheel in, right?

Does the axle itself fit or is that too small as well?

Its too short and too small. i messured the inside of both dropouts at 140mm. if i messure to the outside of the dropouts that makes 150mm. So as burke says i think i need a 12mm X 150mm rear hub. does this sound right? i've phones a few Iron Horse dealers, one saying IH have gone bust and the other did'nt know!

cheers guys

One of my freinds had the same bike and i'm sure it used the normal 135mm spaceing.

Is it possible your freinds bike is slightly bent?

Can you get some pictures up showing the back end?

I'll get some pics yeah. its looks okay and its such a burley swing arm i'm sure its VERY hard to bend

It could just be the natural resting position of the post-welded metal. My bike uses a 135mm rear hub and without the wheel in, the dropout spacing is just a hair under 139mm.

Theres and idea mate, i'm gonna go do some more research tonight. Can't find the standard rear spacing for this frame anywhere on the internet at the momemt. Spoke to another dealer and they say Iron Horse UK have now stopped trading.

x2

Many of my frames have been either too tight or too wide with the wheel out.

That's a fairly general statment since the "Yakuza" represents a line of bikes that includes the Chimpira, Sachem, Kumicho, Ojiki, Gashira, Bakuto and the Aniki which is the bike we are now talking about.

And just so we`re all clear none of those bikes have a 12x150mm rear end.

Just put a normal wheel in and tighten it up. YOu`ll be good to go without wreaking anything.

Hey look at all the neat pictures i found!

Edit: the Yakuza Kumicho may have had 12x150mm spacing in the latter models but i can`t confirm or deny this information based on the information i have found so far.

cheers guys, just to comfirm it is a standard 135mm spacing. just the natural lay of the rear swing arm reads 140mm with a vernier. Thats good news to us as the frame came with some 135mm spaced Halo Combats! bonus.

Thanks again for all your help, Big Grin

Aha i know exactly what your problem is bro!
The rear end of them bikes flex real bad mine always did the same, used to extend as i undid the QR, it not a problem really, i guss its pritty normal for this to happen with an alu frame. just throw on a 135mm QR and lock it up nice and tight.
I had the ojiki which shares the exact same rear end, i never measured mine when the back wheel was off but i wouldn't be suprised if it was more than 140. Anyway it takes a 135mm no question and yes the kumucho and shonan bucho (duno how you spell it a cba to check) has a 12x150 but there the only ones in the yakuza range that do.

Use a 135QR its nothing to worry about tup
