tadaa the linux thread. now we dont have to spam the post your desktop thread anymore. anything linux related can be posted here.
ill start by continuing the discussion: @try-alls: gnash and swfdec are flash players, so its still flash. a real alternative would be html5. here is a information website. sadly my cpu goes up to 70% while watching the video there so it isnt any better than flash. damnit. atleast it isnt proprietary.
ah will have to check it out when not on n900 just overclocked it to 1000mhz o test everythings good, still searching for a decent gui for pacman so i can browse the arch repo's more comfortably lol i'm also plannin a partition for slackware to be built package by package rather than recoomended install of dvd
just as a warning the core system has no desktop only terminal, try the net-install it may give you chance to get ui to start you off or usin one of the arch based new distros comin out but aviod kde imo it buggy as hell
yup you should deffo have a second pc where you can look at the begginers guide and wiki. then it shouldnt be to hard.
try-alls, do you know yaourt? its a pacman frontend for the aur, very usefull. non-graphical of course. i learned to hate guis, i dont even use a graphical filemanger. only for icq i couldnt find a proper text based client.
i have seen it mentioned here an there but i thought it was an alternative like yum on fedora, i liked sbopkg style management an synaptic style for havin a nose and removing
My routers gone weird and won't go over 200kbps on a good day unless i'm using it over ethernet
if there are a lot of routers nearby you need to check the channels bein used, there are 6 by me all usin channel 11 (i am too) so once i get chance i will be changin to a lesser used channel, you should too as it can really help speeds and stability of connection, use the 192.168.x.x on your browser
nice one, i was adding some repo earlier an it failed so i needed to know which section o the conf was best, the linuxfr one for yaourt told me after community which made pacman fail
i'm also goin to be a lazy sod an install backtrack as a second os to play about with pen testin till neopwn is finally released for free rather than payin £30ish for the beta
well i'm back using slackware (guess i just love it too much) same theme an wallpaper as posted on the desktop forum but a new layout to maximise my screen space (1366x768 means a lot of scrollin so panels are now down the side an firefox has been totally redesigned)
Say when I run aircrack-ng suit. I keep on having issues with receiving the arp request, I see I'm sending them out, but I'm not picking up any from the AP. I'm running it on ubuntu 10.4.
replace ur defualt connection manager to wicd that should patch ur wifi card, failin that use backtrack as it has had a smeg load of work done at the system core for that type of stuff
