Hi y’all, I’ve followed for a while but never posted. Last winter I built my first bike while hibernating. Thought I’d post it while hibernating this winter. I might build another so any constructive criticism is appreciated.

First critique, you should have showed us more pics. Why do I have to go into your albums to get the juicy bits!?
Second critique, where are the geo numbers!?
You build a whole bike by hand and the just drop it off without any explanation!? No sir. We demand details.
Haha, thanks guys. The numbers are a little out of the norm, namely 30mm bb drop.
I'm not smart enough to know if 30 or 60mm of bb drop is better. Or if 66 or 65 degrees is the exact perfect angle for a hardcore hardtail. I just know that people making things themselves the way they like it is pretty rad. Well done.
wo, that's a nice build you got there. even a bist shorter than mine, and definitely winning the rear wheel tucking award. i should have gone with a chainstay yoke solution like yours... i hope you have as much fun on yours as i do. long-low-slack isn't the answer to everything. and i hope yours holds up better than mine - i just stripped the frame yesterday to have a cracking gusset repaired (and add a proper paintjob afterwards).

obviously there is only right answer to this: it depends.
i found bb height more crucial for straightline stability vs. bunnyhop/manual liveliness, whilst wheelbase will do for easier or more stable turning.

It will always come down to user preference. I use to like taller BB heights for ground clearance, but after getting properly use to super low BB's and adjusting my pedaling technique I vastly prefer lower. Cornering is one thing, but the thing I notice most is taller BB's want to kick your weight forward more when the rear wheel takes an impact, sort of 'stinkbug' effect. Especially on a hardtail. Lower just feels more stable at speed.
My current hardtail is -55mm with a 27.5" wheel (equivalent to ~75mm on a 29er) and I run 170mm cranks so I could probably afford to go lower with 165mm.
