I want to clarify that "lifetime warranty" business.

Will they replace let's say a wilson that has been raced?
I know specialized doesn't give a sh*t what you did with the frame and will offer you a really cheap crash replacement.
I'm really biased toward getting the new demo because of the amazing warranty and cheap crash replacement. If anyone has any experience with the devicni warranty or crash replacement, could you please share your experience?

I have found some interesting facts under the "product registration" section of the devinci website. (took the liberty to highlight all relevant section are in bold.)

IN 2007, ALL THE FRAMES ON EVERY 2007 BIKE MODEL, INCLUDING ALL MOUNTAIN, FREERIDE, DOWNHILL FRAMES AND DIRT JUMP ARE GUARANTEED FOR LIFE.
PAINT AND DECALS FOR ALL MODELS OF FRAME: 1 YEAR
THE PIVOTS* FOR DOUBLE SUSPENSION FRAMES: 1 YEAR

WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:

* REGULAR MAINTENANCE (CLEANING, LUBRIFICATION OR INSPECTION);
* TRANSPORT OR SHIPPING CHARGES INCURRED AS A RESULT OF THE EXECUTION OF THE WARRANTY;
* COST OF LABOUR RELATED TO THE ASSEMBLY, DISASSEMBLY, REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PARTS;
* DAMAGES CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR INCLUDING DAMAGES CAUSED BY MATERIAL FATIGUE.

THE WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY IF:

* THE DAMAGES WERE CAUSED BY A FORTUITOUS EVENT;
* THE BICYCLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A RETAILER OTHER THAN THOSE AUTHORIZED BY DEVINCI;
* THE BICYCLE WAS NOT ENTIRELY ASSEMBLED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEVINCI RETAILER;
* THE BICYCLE WAS REPAIRED BY A PERSON OTHER THAN AN AUTHORIZED DEVINCI RETAILER;
* YOU ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE BICYCLE;
* THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE USER’S MANUAL FOR ALL FRAMES AND THE TECHNICAL MANUAL FOR FRAMES WITH DOUBLE SUSPENSION WERE NOT RESPECTED;
* THE PERIODIC INSPECTION RECOMMENDED IN THE USER’S MANUAL FOR ALL FRAMES AND IN THE TECHNICAL MANUAL FOR THE FRAMES WITH DOUBLE SUSPENSION WAS NOT CARRIED OUT;
* PARTS NOT SUPPLIED BY DEVINCI WITH THE BICYCLE OR NOT INDICATED IN THE USER’S MANUAL FOR ALL FRAMES OR THE TECHNICAL MANUAL FOR THE FRAMES WITH DOUBLE SUSPENSION WERE USED;
* THE BICYCLE WAS USED FOR AN ACTIVITY OTHER THAN THOSE FOR WHICH IT WAS CONCEIVED;
* THE BICYCLE AND/OR ITS COMPONENTS WERE SUBJECT TO ABUSIVE USE, NEGLIGENCE, ABNORMAL AND/OR EXCESSIVE USE OR WAS IMPLICATED IN AN ACCIDENT;
* THE FRAME IS TOO SMALL FOR YOU;
* YOU USED AN OTHER SEAT THAN THE ONE SOLD WITH YOUR BIKE;
* THE FRAME AND/OR ITS COMPONENTS WERE MODIFIED (EX: POLISHING, STRUCTURAL OR MECHANICAL MODIFICATION OR ADDITION, STRIPPING, SANDING, STRAIN HARDENING, SHOT PEENING);
* YOU CONTINUED TO USE YOUR BICYCLE WHILE IT WAS DAMAGED.

EXCHANGE POLICY IN CASE OF ACCIDENT

DEVINCI IS AWARE THAT THE PURCHASE OF A HIGH PERFORMANCE BICYCLE IS DONE WITH THE HEART. THIS IS WHY OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE APPLIES AN EXCHANGE POLICY AT A LOW PRICE TO ACCOMMODATE CLAIMS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN REFUSED FOR ONE OF THE REASONS MENTIONED IN THE SECTION “WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS”. THIS POLICY APPLIES ONLY TO THE INITIAL BUYER. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DEVINCI RETAILER FOR MORE INFORMATION.



I've answered almost all of my questions... BUT, the seat swapping section is a bit unclear to me. Also if i read right, if you are not the first owner, are you still eligible for the "low price exchange policy"? Is the low price really low or is it a weak discount like some other high end DH bike manufacturer?

The seat issue could mean cutting of modifying the seat post? Anything else seems kinda ridiculous if your not allowed to change the seat on your bike Razz

devincis warrenty is awsome from what ive dealt with ladies road bike i swear she crahsed into a wall new frame a week or two later came in for her.a hardtail mtb just about ripped the fork off got a new frame for 150$ it was a 1000$ complete bike along the same lines road bike lady got her purse stuck in the front wheel and it seperated the dt in the crash she got crash replacement wich was a very good price dont remember. you should be fine if you bring it to a good bike shop that sells devinci. dont email them youreself.

companies usually give you a better idea of their warranty than over legal paperwork

Ive tried to send an email but i don't think they got it as it has now been weeks. I will give them a call if this thread dies down.

if you buy it frame only they should still do it i would just go to youre bike shop and ask they will usaully take youre questions with more care then some dude in who know were

yeah, i will call them. The shop only carries cove and brodie. I may have to call a devinci retailer as well. Anyone works at a shop that carries devinci? On the East coast (USA) we have none to my knowledge.

The warranty statement just has a lot of legal/specifics like that because they have to cover their arse. Otherwise you could cut your frame into pieces and just ask for a replacement. If you have a reasonable reason for the warranty claim and a receipt I doubt they will pull out the warranty statement and check off every line...

I know most manufacturer will give you the newer model if the stocks of your current frame are depleted.

This is great, i was fazing out devinci because they were in canada and i didn't want to deal with any warranty issues but if everyone with one is happy, i might take the plunge.
