What: 8th Annual Eastern Ontario School Mountain Bike Event.

Who: Grades 5-12.

When: Friday May 18th.

Where: Limerick Forest

Why: A day off school to ride your bike.. do I really have to explain this!

Even though the event is structured like a race, it never feels competitive or unfriendly. We’re all here to have fun on bikes - everybody encourages everybody - in all events. The race starts are designed to separate riders before they get to the trails and then riders can negotiate the course at their own pace. The course is designed to be beginner friendly and a fancy bike is not required. Since it is not an EOSSAA event you can still attend if your school does not participate.

And.. lots of free swag!!

Yes XC and a short track relay. No hills to support a dh race. 4x would be cool tho.. I has to mention that one! maybe next year or something!

Usually a hand full of SS dj bikes show up. And the people that show up range from very fast to jut getting into it. You will have someone to race against.

It is a race but it's designed to be a fun race. I'm far from a racer and enjoyed it when I raced (the very first year), and have every year after volunteering as a marshal. And most importantly.. It's a day off school to ride your bike!

There used to be a highschool race up at Hardwood Hills, dunno if there still is though. That was 14 years ago when I raced.

Anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like on Friday?

Posted: May 16, 2011 at 16:50 Quote
Currently calling for rain with a high of 17. But Hopefully that will change to sun by Friday. Because I want sun on the long weekend!!

Track wise this is not an issue. It is sandy and moisture just makes it firmer. So bring a shelter and plan to have fun! at least it's supposed to be decently warm.

And now the weather people claim a chance of showers and 22.. Must be the easiest job in the world. You get to be constantly wrong and change your mind every couple hours!

Track is looking very fast this year, less motos have been out loosening the surface and lots of moisture to keep it firm!

So come for the race and have some good trail riding after! and... SWAG. everyone loves free swag.

AND a few random photos just because..
