you've possibly damaged the BB bearings. take the cranks/spacers off and have a look at the bearings. is it a sealed or unsealed BB?

check that all the bolts are tight, including the chainring bolt. just an idea but could it be that your pedals are making the cracking noise??? bearings in pedals tend to be less tough than BB ones
