So, I've had my bike since Friday there , everything custom, all the parts ordered by myself for my single speed dj setup, an I've had the bike built by my local shop and after 3 short trips ( some of it getting the bike back from the shop to my flat) my cranks? pedals? bb? or something has failed and I can't pedal, but when I move the cranks the opposite way the whole lot loosens but there is a slight knocking/crackling sorta noise! and when the cranks are pedaled the right way the whole thing seizes up again .very confusing considering it's a newly built bike, I will be contacting the bike shop but would anyone know what this might be? and should the shop be fixing this free of charge????? hope I've explained this properly , cheers!
setup.; deity bb gusset exp crank set gusset chainring gusset half link
I'm thinking bottom bracket maybe , all the noise seems to be comin from there, rear hub seems fine, could it be anything to do with the bb cups bein over tightened and pressing the bearings too much?
It sounds like the shop forgot to install the spacer inside the BB. Is it a deity outboard bb. They might have assumed it was not needed. .take the crank off and look inside. It may also be the BB is not set up correctly that there is full engagement of the spacers and inner bearing race.. They might have added outer spacers to get the correct chainline and not added inner spacers to compensate for the chain line setting. Deity sells a spacer for that that fits on the cranks instead of using cup spacers like shimano does Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://www.joyride-cycles.com/Images/ProductImages/Deity/yhst-97995542046473_2111_3274150-sm.jpg

it's not the external bb, but I see what you mean with the spacers, the bb did come with cup spacers which are on , I took the bike back he's gonna have a look an he wants the extra spacers which might help ,,, but with the nasty knocking noise? does this mean the bearings are f@&cked ?
If the job was just done and the bike not ridden then no. Just an adjustment is needed. If you were to ride the bike like that for an extended period then they would get damaged
