150mm vs 160mm - DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

I wanted to know, does it make a difference? can a 160 mm bike take much biger hits ? can a 150mm bike climb much beter then a 160mm bike? how big can a 150mm bike go?

One factor to consider - forks - going from 150mm to 160mm means different chassis (increased stiffness, performance etc) - Fox32 vs Fox36, RS Sektor vs Lyrik, Marz 44 vs 55

That's a brilliant answer that I have never thought about!! You have to also look at the fact that bike companies see a 150mm bike as a long travel trail bike and a 160mm bike as an all mountain bike, they beef up bikes at 160mm and you get much stronger but much heavier bikes with different geo and abilities, some good characteristics and some bad

My 150mm stumpy evo is built tougher than a lot of downhill bikes, but the fork holds it back a bit since it only has 32mm stantions and isnt meant for a ton of abuse. If i swapped out the suspension and wheelset it would be able to do a lot, just check out the new coastal crew video.
