I decided to make a thread dedicated to cyclecross info & discussion.
I'm new to the sport but I've found some good info on it for beginners. Please add or PM me to add more advanced stuff or info you feel is important Smile

-Feel free to post your bike!

-Keep the discussion on topic.

-Feel free to discuss singlespeed or fixed gear (insanity) cyclecross

Look, I don't mean to be a dick, but a good start would be spelling the name of the sport correctly.

I have a On-one pompino frame sitting in my shed for almost 2 months now, had more important things to build

trying to decide if i should build it up as a single speed/fixed gear cycle cross bike, with either compact drops, riserd or possibly some wide bullhorns, i could have 32c cross tyres on the back and a 35c on the front, or just cut my losses, sell it and build up a decent ss-mtb, maybe even a One-one Inbred, be a bit more versatile but maybe not so fun.

Opinions?

What type of riding are you planning to do? Where will you be doing it? Forest? Canal Paths?

mostly long rides down the canal, but i will try find some local forest trails if they exist

also my grandparents live in the country side of wales so i can take it down there to ride around on sometimes

Hi,

I'm interested in starting to race cyclocross to improve my fitness and have fun (and win hopefully)
However I am new to this side of biking and was wondering on what you guys would recommend as a starting bike/ frame

I would like to go second hand and possibly build it up unless any one knows of a nice speced new or second hand full build.

I have a reasonable budget but I am not looking for a massive spec world race type bike.

Probably aluminium frame some carbon components.

If you could also recommend a frame with disk mounts It would be even better!

Cheers

surly cross checks are nice and cheap ibis makes a disk brake bike. ii would go redline conquest team if you can sick carbon bike. cross is the shit. i havnt rode a disk cross bike i bet it be sweet but if you just use it to race then i wouldnt even go disk cause its kinda spendy for a bike set up. you could talk to a local frame builder. cross bikes are fun to bomb single track! i hope i helped a lil lol
