I've got some shimano saints on order, the rotors I currently have on my bike are avid hs1, will there be enough material height wise to cover the saint pads? There the saint m810's

The hs1's are good, I think the pad contact area is fine for brakes

I had the same problem as you. I'm using V8's 203mm Hayes rotor. I find that they contact (stock) 80% of the rotor. Used a metal file brought the distance down to a nice 90% contact. Just as along the outside edge doesn't deviate too much inwards it should be fine. Obviously no rotors that have no surface to begin with. Anything simple and round without fancy patterns or "hills" works the best in my experience. But I would recommend filing the adaptor down a bit..cause it's stupid why I only should use 80% of the rotor and leave off 20%. Even filing 1mm both top and bottom of the adaptor can make some big changes.

If you do, do it, make sure to measure things out or eye it out atleast and check constantly to see if you bottomed out the caliper's clearance.
