Hey Guys,

Just purchased some Maxxis Minion DHF 3C EXO MaxxTerra tires. For some reason the labeling looks not like the other minions I have seen. Are these an older model? Are these fakes? Are these the 2013's? I'm just a bit confused and curious if I should contact the ebay seller.

ALSO: Can I run these guys tubeless and be ok?

Hey man, these are the latest versions of the tire; definitely not fakes. Produced in either 2012 or 2013 (if you post a picture of the white numbers stamped on the inside of the casing, I can tell you the week and year of manufacture.)

The '3C MaxxTerra' compound uses a 70a base layer compound, a 50a outer center layer, and a 42a outer shoulder layer. In comparison, the '3C MaxxGrip' compound uses the same 70a base layer, a 42a outer center layer, and a 40a outer shoulder layer. This is what has always been used in DH tires for the last 10+ years.

The tire is not 'tubeless ready', meaning is doesn't have a UST spec bead. But many people have run the tire tubeless on tubeless or converted rims with no problems. But it really isn't recommended for aggressive riding, as the chance of burping or blow-offs is higher.
