Going 2x9 or 2x10 or device and bash guard ?

Looking to change from my 9x3 to 2x10 with bashguard so I can use a clutched mech as the noise from my set up is really annoying using a slx shadow 9speed at the moment.
Thinking of Shimano slx shadow plus or Sram x9 type 2 any preference ?

Would have been quite happy to have stayed with the 9 speed but nobody makes a clutch mech for 9 speed or would I be better going 2x9 with a single roller chain device and bash guard.
How much difference in chain slap noise level would there be.
I ride Trail centres and xc/bidlepaths etc
Look forward to your comments.

I would run the 2x10 setup there is less chain travel and i would look at the sramm xx you can pick them up for around $100 used and will save weight and get you full carbon and all ti spring for longevity and they have a hell of a stiff spring to take out chain slap and keep solid gears i ride mine dh and it has no clutch and never jumps gears and super quiet and instant shift. Also look at the cassettes with 11-36 ratio it will help you cover a wider gear like what your looking for.

Thank you for the advise I have literally just done what you suggested but not with SRAM stuff. Gone 2x10 with raceface 24&34 front Shimano 11-36 cassette, rear mech, front mech and shifters all bought used off of pink bike. Bargain.
Tried it for the first time yesterday. No noise and all the gears I need. Awesome
Thanks guys for all the advise.
