I have avid coder brakes and always have problems every time I have to change brake pads . But I also have bb5 on my P1 and they work great , I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put some on my Downhill bike.

I'd like to put the new shimano m-640 zee hydraulic disc brakes on my 2007 santa cruz bullet. Is it pretty straight forward or is there something I should now going in (additional brackets etc.)?

You're not supposed to have any problem with your brakes when only changing the pads. Get new brakes but don't even think about riding mechanic brakes in DH.

I have owned many models of Avid brakes, and I have been frustrated with them more often then not. Set them up, they work fine and then its like some kind of random voodoo curse is cast upon them and they never work quite right afterwards. I cannot explain it. Maybe I just have bad Avid Karma or something.

I would suggest just switching over to Shimano or Hayes hydraulics. Hope makes a great brake but they are a bit pricey, especially here in Canada.

A functioning hydraulic system blows away a cable system for disc brakes. For any kind of DH it is no contest.

Same with Formula Brakes.Received my Oro k18 with my bikes, and in the same time, found this under my bed.

As far as avids go, I run DOT 5. Not 5.1 like suggested by the manufacturer. Seems to cure a lot of the issues that avids are plagued by. Seeing that it is silicon based, it keeps the pistons lubricated much better. Haven't had a stuck caliper yet on any of the team bikes I wrench on.
