£500 budget....which hardtail?

Hi all,

I have a £500 budget. I am looking to use my bike for my commute to work as well as off road trails. I have been advised to go for a hardtail and am wondering which ones you guys would suggest within my price range. An explaination of why you would suggest these bicycles and how they differ from one another would be greatfully received.

I was in the same situation recently, if you go for 2nd hand you'll get a lot more bike for your money.

Buy mine its amazing. On a serious note as the other guy said, 2nd hand can offer great value Also how aggresive do you want to ride of rode will influence your choice massively!
