Hey guys I have a 2010 giant reign x2. I was thinking of putting a duel crown on it and as of now I have the marzochhi 160 mm fork. I would like to put a 180 or 200 mm fork on it. On it I understand that the warranty will be voided. Wondering if anybody has done it, and also wondering if anybody had or knows problems on doing it. Thanks.

I put a Boxxer on my old '09 Reign X frame and had no problems, it felt better with more travel up front too.

Ok thanks man. But did u have to do any special conversion or did u just slap on the fork?

If yours has a tapered head tube you'll need a reducer for the crown race.

Heres one I built earlier (today)

I had a spare set of RS domain dual crowns and the giants previous forks were being donated to the missus Xmas pressie . I had a coverter crown race in my spares pile (came with the headset I got for the missus xmas pressie) so it just slotted straight in. I had to swap out the original reign top steerer bearing cover for one with a lower stack as the domains steerer was only 160mm long but is buttoned up nicely. Probably test ride it this evening .
PS it was fit these or the original bikes Maz Bomber 55 Rs which weren't my favourite forks s so the domains got the nod.

reighn and dual crown are from parallel universes. you will lose your warranty, get some more unneeded weight and ugly-looking bike. I'd advise to look for good 180mm single-crown forks. totem, 66RC3 and others.

OP already knows warranty will be sacrificed...
My stock 55 fork was a pig and the boxxer weighed quite a bit less, and looked better IMHO.

All that said, a 180mm single crown is also an option.

I took this for its inaugural run this evening in the local woods. Felt fine and climbed as well as it did with the previous Lyrik RC2L , even set a personal best on one of my strava climbs . I suspect the swap to spring from air will help it descend a little better along with the slight change in head angle though it was a little to dark for any gnarly downhill stuff so a win win for me (and the missus xmas bike gets decent fork into the bargain.

What kind of converter did u use to change the headtube?

the converter came as a choice of bottom crown races with the superstar headset I bought for the missus bike build.
the headset came with both the "normal" 1.5" taper headtube bottom race and the 1 1/8" to 1.5 wider bottom race. You can buy similar as separate items from ebay or other bike part sellers.
Heres a couple I just googled.

You can do it, but if you want a bike that rides well I wouldnt do it. I'd go max 180mm maybe even 170mm. The geometry gets so f*cked up when you put such a tall fork on the reign like a dual crown. You will get a far better ride with a 160-170mm fork with a strong damper with a cane creek angleset than a big tall shitty fork.

I'm a snow boarder . Sick of going to bike shops to here people talk like engineers about a f@@@iing bike I've got 180 38 fit on my giant reign 2015 . Rides better in my opinion. Going down hill . Don't notice going up hill. Yeah I know it might break the head tube . But hey . Could break yu self on any bike . So up grade ... and go ride F@@@k it yu along time dead ...
Better to burn ot than fade away
