Hi guys i just bought a used race face crank the evolve dh ....anyway this seller gave me 2 white spacer for the spindle and 2 bb cup spacer.....my bike frame runs on 68mm bb so what should i do now?? need help plz thx....and by the way im setting up my bike as single speed

You will need to get 1 more BB spacer. 68mm shell will require 2 spacers non-drive side and 1 spacer drive-side. Unless you are running a BB mount chain guide or a BB mount front derailleur, in which case the BB mount becomes a spacer.

The white spacers are just for you to fine tune your chain line. You could put them on either side, depending if you want to bring your chainring closer to the centre or push it out.

Owh I see... Any way can I replace the white chain line spacer with o-rings?? Coz I can't find any spacer which is exactly the same... My LBS don't sell race face spare parts

You are not replacing the white spacers.

You need 1 more BB spacer. The BB spacer is the bigger one, it will be black or dark grey. The BB spacers are standard across all bottom brackets, every bike shop will have them. Shimano, Race Face, Chris King, Hope, you name it, for threaded bottom brackets, the spacers are all the same.

And no, you cannot use rubber o-rings as a replacement for spacers. Rubber o-rings will squish when you screw down on them, leaving you with an unpredictable width. A spacer is designed to be something that does not squish, and stays at a specific width.

Yeah i know about the bb shell spacer mate...the things is that the spindle spacer im worry about :-D......how about if i just use that 2 spindle spacer will the spindle move side to side??

You said you only have 2 BB spacers. You need 3. So yes, if you only have 2 BB spacers and 2 white axle spacers, it will move side to side.

Dang, yeah. Looks like you need 4 axle spacers for those cranks. Here is a link to buy them:

Sorry man. I am racking my brain trying to think of something else that uses metal/plastic washers in about that size but am drawing a blank.

how about if i cut from a PVC pipe? will it work??

The tolerances you would need are fairly exacting. If you had uneven thickness, or were not quite 1mm, you would be placing a lot stress on the BB bearings, and would likely wear your BB out fairly quickly.

Maybe if you had a lathe or were quite skilled with a dremel. PVC would not be the right choice though even if you were. If you are thinking about just using a hacksaw, then no.

I'm doomed......i cant order things from other country coz in my country they will charge duty taxes.....if only they are willing to declare the item prices low

Posted: Dec 27, 2013 at 23:35 Quote
They are a $1.50 USD a piece. You need 2, so that is $3 USD. They will likely be mailed in an envelope. How much duty are you expecting on a $3 import?
