Looking for some help... My Pike 454 Dual air motion control hung in my shed for about a year---fully functional when I left it. Took it down and the lockout did not work. I drained the oil from the right side, let the air from the left side and was able to compress the bottoms pretty much all the way to the crown (no hydro lock). After refilling oil and air with the motion control (not remote but on the crown) on and the floodgate all the way clockwise there is no lock out.
Is the seal culprit the O ring on the bottom of the motion control damper? Or is there leakage past the top of the rebound damper seals (when I drained the fluid the second time there was the proper amount from the bottom of the lowers (ie the fluid did not appear to leak into the lowers past the rebound damper).
Assuming I should replace seals on both rebound and motion control dampers...is there a way to tell before buying everything if the motion control damper is any good? It does move and cover/uncover the vent at the bottom.
look like your O-rings failed. remove the damper, rotate some adjusters, make sure they have end positions. if so-changing of O-rings will be enough. I don't think that damper mechanism can break after a year if idling.
Thanks for your reply...I'll order the seal kit. One more question if you have time. I also have a Pike 426 coil fork,. I changed the oil (no seals) and it doesn't compress fully even if I remove the 15cc's (of 15w) in the lowers. Can a coil fork like this hydrolock? thanks
