Hey everyone. I've recently purchased a 2012 Specialized demo. Was looking into a 2015 demo but it is out of my price point. One of the key features for the new 15 demo's are the 650B wheel size, And I really wanted one to try the new wheel size. Now my question is will the 650B wheel size work on my bike with a bigger tire. I know it will fit my front because my I own a fox 40 and my LBS let me put a 650B tire with a swahlbe (spelling) muddy mary tire 2.35" and it worked well. now they didnt have a 650B rear wheel set lying around that fit my bike. My question is has anyone tryed to mount a 650B wheel on a specialized demo before? if so how has it worked or has it worked at all. Now I know it will work without a tire on the rim as some simply measuring solves that problem. But would it work with a tire. if anyone could help my answer this question that'd be great.

But if you have over 1/2" of clearance between you current 26" tire and frame then you should be able to make the 650b wheel work. Also check to make sure the chain stays don't taper in too much at that half inch mark to ensure the side knobs of the bigger tire will clear the chain stay. The 650b wheel is exactly 1/2" bigger on either side of the axle than a 26" so a good rule of thumb is to have 1/2" clearance to fit the larger tire and an additional 5mm to get a gap between the tire and frame to account for wheel flex.

Not sure about the bike but i ride with a dude who has 27.5 on the front and 26 rear on a santa cruz and he just rips going down and drops the fork to climb.

So not like anyone has been reading this forum or even noticed. But as earlier posted about my question if a 650 b rim will fit my demo. Well my roommate just got his 2015 glory 2 today which offers 650 b rims. Same axel size so we took a shot at it, And the 650b rim fit no problem with a schwalbe Magic mary 2.35" tire. I'd say I had about 1/8th of a inch clearance between the frame and edge of the tire. Took it for a small spin down the street and no issues. Have trail tested it but looking forward to trying it.

If you can take pictures with the rear tire/rim in the Demo, that'd be great. I'm really interested.

damn thats crazy, you should give us a review and maybe video when you test it out, that would be awesome, I'm curious to hear how that is

I have a 2004 Cannondale F800 26' wheels with a lefty fork. I've been planning to convert my good oldie bicycle to a commuter similar to the Bad Boy series. Will a 650b wheel sets fit on a 26" F800 frame?

At oy. Worked on the 2001 cannondale jekyll. With urban city tires. Here was the catch no urban 650b tires. . so found an odd size tire 26/1/2 x 2 1/2..

There are a lot of 26' urban assault tyres. I'm hoping to complete my project next season and cross my fingers find a 650b urban tyres then but for the time being Ill hunt down the the smallest radius mountain bike tyres for the 650b rims.

How much room does that leave between the tire and the frame? it looks really tight from this angle... I would worry about clearance issues when there is mud, or in the chance that the wheel goes out of true.

I tried this, but with a schwable magice mary and it didn't fit. The lugs where rubbing on the frame. This is why I never went threw with this mod. But I was told.by many people that a schwable 2.3" tire is wider then a maxxis 2.3" tire.
