So here is my problem. I joined the Navy fresh out of high school wanting to serve my country and see the world. I received orders to be stationed down here in Gulfport, Mississippi for five years. I have been down here for three months now and am having some trouble finding good places to go riding that are worth my time. I am originally from Massachusetts and am use to having a wide range of terrain to use for my entertainment. I also was only a couple hours away from Highland Mountain Bike Park. I am really curious is if there is anyone that is familiar with the area and knows of any good places for downhill, slopestyle, dirt jumps, and so on. I am fully aware that being on the gulf coast my options will be limited and not be anything like I am use to riding, I am willing to drive a couple hours to do some riding. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The nearest true DH is TTC Gravity Park in Sequatchie Tn, or Windrock in Olivar Springs Tn. Both are self shuttle so you gotta be there when a group is riding. Both places have gnarly, steep, technical trails with decent sized gaps/drops, but only a few routes to chose from. Beech mtn is the closest lift park. Best local AM trails as well as jumps would be at Oak Mountain state park just south of Birmingham. My favorite single track in Ms is noxubee hills and tcmba trails but there is no true DH, freeride, or slopestyle trails in Ms. I ride TTC every weekend people are there, you should check it out.
