Hi, one of my riding buddies has unfortunately bent/twisted the rear end of his Canyon Nerve AM. The bike is about 4 years old now and it looks like both the chain and seat stays are out of shape, the rear wheel needs lots of force to turn it.

A LBS took a look and they confirmed that its a chain stay (and maybe seat stay) issue.

He has just sent it back to Canyon, and it seems that its still under warranty (although has to wait for an assessment to find out if its going to be covered or not). Has anyone on here sent back a Canyon with a similar situation, and what was the end result?

His bike is of course the 26" model, do Canyon tend to keep a stock of older frames and parts for warranty purposes, or is he more likely going to be offered something out of the current range if the warranty / crash replacement claim is successful?
