What all mountain bike should I buy?

Hi,
I have a beginners hardtail at the moment and want to take the next step and get a better bike. I want a all mountain bike not opposed to the idea of buying a frame and building it up. I have max £1400 and I've been looking at the Orange crush but is right at the top of my price range! Anyone else have any ideas?

I live in the UK I ride anything from xc to downhill ish tracks so an all mountain bike is the best compromise as I can't afford two bikes

If you really want to get into more aggressive stuff ID definitely buy a full suspension bike. A full 160mm enduro bike may be a bit too much if your progressing but a 130-140mm travel bike should be perfect. At least that what I found was best when I was progressing!

True is it a hardtail but a very hardcore one a friend of mine had one and he raced farmer jhons on it came middle ish against people on proper dh bikes so I think it'll do the job have a look at it only its pretty sick tbh

I was just in a similar case as you were when my hard rock was stolen and I was forced to upgrade. I bought the new Giant stance and was more than pleased with it. The price is outrageously low for the amount of bicycle.
