Hey guys/gals, what is the best lube/grease to use in my DT Swiss freehub? I tried some "normal" bike grease thinned out with some lube but as soon as it got cold today the engagement wasn't great. I'd like to get past buying the "Dt Swiss Special Crimson Ultra Super Grease" that costs an arm and a leg, but if it is the best stuff, I'll get that. Other suggestions are welcome.

I use sram butter (aka slickoleum) for my DT hubs, it's what they spec for using in their two pawl hubs so it should be fine for all of their range

I've obtained something called SRAM spezialfett (special grease!) that is apparently used in some of their hubs. This is what my LBS uses on SRAM hubs and I've reinstalled the hub using this stuff. We'll see how it holds up. I'll report back here when I know more.

Im afraid it sounds like youre referring to the old sachs (later bought by sram) spezialfett thats used for coaster brake drums in sram t3/p5/s7 internal gear hubs. Great for heat tolerance but cant think of worse grease for pawls. Its very thick and of a brown/yellow colour?

Thick, yes. Sticky, not even close. It seems to be holding up nicely, as far as I know the DT swiss stuff actually is quite thick. It is honey colored. Also these things don't really need a lot of lubrication according to most that I've talked to.
