They're both the exact same frame, just different components. They were designed for freeride and are built just as burly as a Stinky, so if you're looking for an all mountain bike then you should look at the Dawg line.
Both would serve very nicely as freeride bikes, but if you want to do the bigger drops then I would recommend that your opt for the coil model or either shim the air sleeve on the air 3 or buy the lower volume rp3 air can to prevent bottoming on the bigger hits.
