Does 27.5+ tyres like nobby nic 2.8 fit a 27.5 pike?

Has anyone tried fitting 650b+ tyres in their 650b pike fork? I'm really interested in running a plus tyre up front to get a pseudo 79er with 650b back and a plus tyre front. I'm just concerned about tyre squirming, if it fits a mudguard and if 29mm inner diameter rim would be enough.

UPDATE
I have now received the tire (2.8" Nobby Nic), mounted it and made a few runs with it. In short, it works well and clearance is no issue, mainly due to the Nobby Nic measuring approximately 67mm at its widest point when mounted on a 29mm inner diameter rim.

I have a mini-review on the mtbr forum, check it out if you're interested in running a similar tire.

I have 29mm inner diameter rims and 2.5 downhill tires on my Pike and it looks like there's a decent amount of clearance. Can't be of any more help than that unfortunately

But it's something!

What tyres are you running? Maxxis 2.5 are for example as wide as schwalbe 2.35

But it's something!

What tyres are you running? Maxxis 2.5 are for example as wide as schwalbe 2.35

Specialized Butcher DH which are a few mm wider than the Scwalbe Hans Dampf 2.35 (which themselves measure to just shy of 2.5).

Yes... NN 2.8 fits. It's not actually very big at all. Definitely not tall like a trailblazer 2.8. It even fits in the rear of my FS which doesn't have amazing tire clearance.

I'm really tempted to run 2.8" Nobby Nic front and a 2.8" Rocket Ron rear on my Specialized Enduro 650b, but I'm hoping to hear if someone has tried a similar set up and if it worked.

Yeah, I'm the OP in that thread, I have ordered a NN 2.8" and an 2.35" Hans dampf rear. Hopefully I will have them fitted by the end of the week to wreak some havoc on Strava. Big Grin

Looks like others are trying it too.

Enough room for sure.
The NN 2.8 is no taller than. TK 2.4 or Geax Goma.
It's wider without the extra weight of super huge volume standard 27.5 tires.

That would be the minimum for a 2.8 to be useful Smile Some guy said 40mm internal width to be ideal. I guess ideal depends on the person but somewhere 30-40 internal width Smile

Ibis on their New Mojo 3 (which is the bike that's creating a lot of interest in the NN 2.8 ) is using a 30mm aluminum rim (Arc30) on their lower builds and their own carbon rims with 35mm on higher end ones.
So I'd think 29mm would be ok.
