Shifter and brake one clamp?

Hi!

So today I installed the Shimano Zee M640 disc brakes to my bike and noticed that there's no real comfortable way to pair it side by side with my Shimano Saint M810 rear shifter. If the shifter is on the inside of the brake then the paddles get on the way and if it's outside the brake clamp then it's hard to reach. I know that you can use one clamp only for both but not sure if I can do it with the older Saint shifter and the newer Zee brake so does anyone else happen to know?
