For $1500, you're going to have to look used if you want something that's going the handle the race course well. If you want new, I'd suggest saving up a bit more money.
what used bike would you recomend?

Edit: The guy with the V10 seems kinda sketchy, won't say what fork comes with the bike (He says Manitou Dual Crown)

Because you ride one, so it's the best bike out there?

The fact of the matter is that Transition bikes are overpriced for their lack of a decent suspension design. Not to mention they steal geometry from many other manufacturers (Santa Cruz, Yeti, Intense, etc.)

i agree but i have been hearing great things about bottle rockets, besides gran mals are way over $1500.

Don't listen to it. The majority of BR users are just using them as glorified "do-it-all" bikes. They use geometry that is very similar to the SC Blur 4x, but doesn't have VPP and is a single pivot. It's ok if you like them (there's a different bike for everyone), but I'd suggest riding anything before you buy it, to see if it really suits your riding style.

what i mean't about that question is like how much are you going to push the bike. some people will be calmer on a bike and take everything slowly while other people will just find a big jump and fly over the entire hill. and like how is the conditions were you are, like heavily rooted, sandy, rocky, swampy (wet). certain bikes are better in one place then another.

i wouldn't really try to get anything new. because if you do your going to end up either on a bike from 2003 or something thats complete garbage and your just going to get frusterated with. look for a used bike. it will save you alot of money. like most shops have a Norco atomik for like $2700.00. quickly looking the pinkbike buysell i see a 2006 Norco team DH with deemax's and a bunch of other goodies going for $2100. i know thats out of your price range, but its super easy to find a bike for your price range used.

heres a norco aline (2005) for $1500 that comes with a full face helmet and some other gear, check it out

oh yeah, you should remember that too. gear is also expensive, especially if your hoping on riding most resorts. most will force you to wear full gear. full face, gloves, preasure suit, knee guards. it all adds up. a preasure suit can be expensive like $200.00+, then theirs a full face and the rest. the best thing to do is look on ebay. i just ordered a brand new 661 preasure suit for $119.00 that would have cost me $249.00 at my LBS.
