What are people's thoughts on Kona's Precept line? The 120, 130 & 150 in particular? Or the 2015 models.

My mom has a Precept DL (2015) and I'll take that out quite regularly. It's a great entry level bike. It has a warranty that is second to none. It's seen easy trail use, to enduro stuff, to lift days with full on rowdy downhill types of trails. The 2015 was really more oriented towards trail use and light enduro. The tough technical downhill stuff was just not fun on them. It was slow and kinda painful. I didn't have a dropper and the pedals I had cheap plastic ones with no grip. My main complaint was that the shock wouldn't use the last 10% of the travel so I was getting shorted a lot.

The 2016 line has the more progressive geometry that made the Process line such great bikes, in fact they have the same geometry now. I also have time on the Process 134 DL and Process 153. Super awesome bikes and if the 2016 Precept line has the same personality as the Process line then I'm sure they are great bikes as well.

In short I would pick the the '16 series over the '15. But if it's for trail use and light enduro-ish and you can score a great deal on the 15 line, then definitely pick it up! It really depends on what kind of riding you are looking to do.

They look like a good, cheap bikes. Like Giant's Stance or whatever, but they come in different travel variations. The 120 looks like an awesome starter XC bike for $1600. It has great geometry. Id buy one if I was just starting out.

I've been riding for years & it's time to move onto something more rugged and fun. I like riding trail & enduro but haven't had time on many big bikes. I've riden the Kona process 153 and it's super rad and inspires confidence but wasn't sure about the precept line.
