You could use an integrated stem.

what are you talking about. it's not his steerer length that is too short. It's the distance between the top and bottom crown that is too long.

READ what he said before you post

hey buddy with wal mart bike

i would know it is because his bottom crown is too low

to fix this he needs to try a new stem headset or steertube

so i was pretty much right in thinking i need a different headset? if so..any recommendations?

Man, the steerer tube won't do anything. see the bolts on his fork clamps, they adjust the height of the uppers in the clamps. He already has them adjusted so the fork is the heighest. He needs to get a shorter headset to be able to move the crowns closer together, making it so he can raise the fork height within the crowns.

What the heck are you talking about? To the original poster, you need a headset with a low stack height. The FSA the Pig headset has a realatively high stack height. Ignore everyone who says you need a new steer tube. The steer tube length has nothing to do with the distance between the crowns, which is the issue that you are facing right now. A low stack height headset should clear everything up.

A new headset won't gain a lot of extra steertube room. You are looking at getting a few millimeters that won't help a whole lot. Get a shop to look at it and see if an integrated stem will help.
