Well this one died out before it got off the ground. Anyone convert their older model Fuel EXs to 1x?

Here's mine. Converted to a 1x10 using a e.13 M profile 32t and an XT RD-M786 RD. It runs great and has never thrown the chain. DNM dropper post, Truvativ 60mm stem with a Spank Trail 760 handlebar with 5mm rise.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. How does the 60mm feel after taking off that 100mm that came stock? I have a 50mm and a 60mm and trying to decide which to throw on it.

It was a big difference in the feel of the bike for me. Between the stem, bars and dropper I have much more stability and confidence descending and don't notice any negative impact on climbs.

Has anybody tried using bushings or a headcup to slacken their bike?

Here's my 2016 27.5" Fuel Ex 7. No upgrades (except for Ergon grips) - it's exactly as it arrived from the bike store - love this bike.

I put a 30t on my 2008 model EX9 to complement the 9 speed cassette. Love it and haven't had any problems as of yet.

My 2008 Fuel EX9. First real dual suspension and love it.
Upgrades include:
- 30t Fireeye chainring
- 45mm Funn Funnduro stem
- Welgo pedals
- ODI TLD grips
- Marshguard
- AMS frame protectors

Had to replace the whole drivetrain after riding over a stick wrong and having it flick up and making a good mess of it. Smile

Nice set-up, I've been thinking about changing to a single ring and having a 11 cassette.

I'm stoked with my single chainring! So much smoother and quieter. Probably one my favourite investments on the bike.

Hey figured this might be the best place to ask a question. So I tried to order a 2017 ex 7 29er through my local trek store thinking there was only one left in my size, 21.5, but turns out there aren't any available until December 5th. I decided on the 7 because of the specs seemed nice for the price and I like the colorway. The store offered to give me the ex 8 29er for $430 more, so about $200 off. Is it worth the extra cash for the 8? I live in ohio so i expect i'll still be able to ride come December and i'm also in school until early December so its not like I have a ton of time to ride, about once a week right now. let me know what you would do. thanks
