What bike to bring on a visit to New Glasgow, NS

My mum moved out to New Glasgow last winter and I'll be heading out to visit her come the end of the summer. Wanted to know which bike I should bring out with me when I come. A HT trail/XC bike or my road bike?

Trail forks shows some MTB ... but looks like a drive.

But , I really don't have a clue about the area.

I would vote for the MTB either way... harder to take a road bike on a blue trail than it to take an MTB on the highway. Salute

I am originally from the area. There is a pretty decent XC mountain bike trail approximately 20 minutes outside of New Glasgow (in Scotsburn). Apparently there's also a downhill track, with a shuttle service, around 40 minutes away at a former ski hill (Keppoch). I've heard good things.
There are other trails as well which I am less familiar with. The guys at the local bike shop (Pictou County Cycle), which is run by a guy named Clint Snell, are super helpful and can point you in the right direction.
