I originally posted this in Dirt Jumping but upon further research on Eric Carter, have decided that downhill might be a better home for this question.
I am brand new to mountain biking. I was really keen on buying a Mongoose Fireball and was in the process of saving up for one until I recently saw a 2009 Eric Carter signature model Mongoose hardtail (ECH), advertised second-hand for $250 (Australian). The frame looked very similar so i bought it.
I can't find any info regarding this bike (reviews, etc.), online and was hoping that someone could fill me in on this bike, please? Is it regarded as a good model? What type of mountain bike style is it best suited for (I'm guessing DH, if that is what Eric Carter is into)? Being a limited edition signature model, is it likely to increase in value? The reason i ask is because although it is in good condition, i was going to have the frame sand blasted and powder coated, etc.
Any info on this bike would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!
p.s. I wanted to add a photo of the bike but for some reason, couldn't get it onto this thread. Please see a photo of the bike on my forum page.
Eric carter started out racing DH and went on to racing BMX and 4x from what I know of him
In 2006, mongoose released the ECD & ECX (ECD is the DH bike, now known as the boot'r and the ECX was his 4x full sus, I believe that went on to be what is now the nugget) I never saw the hardtail, I always thought his HT was a repainted GT lopes frame (given that GT and mongoose are owned by the same company)
I would leave it in original livery unless it's completely trashed, maybe try collect the set. Could be worth a bit as a collection with a team race kit...
