Hey guys. Well I'm looking to buy my first mountain bike. I have been on Craigslist diligently looking for a nice full suspension for a good deal. Some thing around $500.

Well I came across a 2005 Gary Fisher Cake 1. Seller was asking 600 but I talked him down to 400. Bike looks to be in good condition. All original parts.

What is like to know is how does this bike fair with today's bikes. Is it a good way to go or should I be looking for something else. I'd ideally like to find a nice full suspension specialized but I'd prob need to save up another 300-400 bucks.
So should I snatch this bike up?

No advice??

Well Im now dealing with making a decision between the Cake 1 and a 2006 Enduro Elite. The Enduro has a few upgrades.

Shimano LX crank set.

**Ronic Rear Shock.

**PrimoPro Magnesium Pedals

**Maxxis Holy Roller Tires

So anyone with some knowledge, can you give me some insight and what would you do. thanks

Well I ended up getting the 06 Enduro Elite. Got a pretty sweet deal on it so Im happy. It feels a little big tho. Im 6 feet tall and got a large. Thinking a medium might have been a better fit. If it doesn't work out Ill prob put this up for sale or trade and try a medium. /Ill get some pics up tomorrow.

large should fit you fine unless you have really short arms or legs.
What makes it feel short?

get a good de-greaser and clean the chain and lube it. have fun and enjoy the trails.

I can advise you to read some information on the blogs and then try the favourite bike in your local shop.
This is the article to start comparing: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/best-mountain-bike-the-ultimate-buyers-guide-46712/
And this is the list of top 2016 bikes for men and women:

But try to find an opportunity to see your chosen bike in reality, that will help for sure.
