Advice on rear shock (Monarch RT)

I've been riding my first FS bike, an SC Hightower 29er, for a while now and can't figure out what to do about the rear shock. I'm a tall, heavy rider (6'2 210lbs) and I feel like the Monarch RT is either too stiff and harsh, or too soft and bottoming out. I have tried different sag and damping combinations but there's not much of a happy medium.

Would I better served with a different shock? Maybe a spring, or more travel in order to find a more linear, supple ride?

Maybe you need to take out some spacers or put in some spacers?
